community. Therefore, everyone in the community should attend.
As a student, you should attend to recieve information about the dangers of underage substance abuse, and prevention
strategies to help you lead a healthier lifestyle.
As a parent, you should attend because underage substance abuse can impact EVERY child in St. Johns County. Parents
are the number one source where youth obtain alcohol; the Town Hall Meeting will provide you with information from a panel
of experts from our community on this important issue.
As a community member, you should attend because underage alcohol and marijuana abuse impact all sectors and all
members of St. Johns County. The Town Hall Meeting will provide you with information and strategies you can use to help
reduce and prevent underage substance abuse in our community.
2. What is the Target Age Group for the Town Hall Meeting?
The target age group is 5th grade and older.
3. My Child Has Practice the Day of the Town Hall Meeting - Can He/She Come Late?
Yes! We want as many of our youth at the Town Hall Meeting as we can.
4. If I Can't Attend the Town Hall Meeting, is There Another Presentation I Can Attend?

5. What is PACT Prevention Coalition?
PACT is a non-profit organization in St. Johns County whose mission is to make St. Johns County a healthy, substance-free
community through the reduction and prevention of alcohol and drug abuse by our youth with Prevention, Advocacy, Choices,

6. What is the Need for Prevention?
In St. Johns County, the 30 day youth alcohol usage rate is 29.4%
In the state of Florida, the 30 day youth alcohol usage rate is 28.8%
In St. Johns County, the 30 day youth marijuana usage rate is 14.6%
In the state of Florida, the 30 day youth marijuana usage rate is 13%
Also, people who drink before the age of 15 are four times more likely to develop alcoholism than those who started drinking
at the legal age of 21.
7. How do I Get Involved?
There are a number of ways to become involved with PACT. First, you can join one of our Regional Prevention Councils.
These councils were developed to address the fact that each part of the County is facing a unique battle with underage drug
and alcohol use. The councils provide parents and community members the opportunity to assist PACT in developing
strategies to address the issue of underage drug and alcohol use from the perspective of each region of the County.
Parents and community members can also attend and/or host one of our Parent to Parent meetings. The goal of Parent to
Parent is to educate parents on underage drug and alcohol use, and provide prevention strategies and networking
opportunities with other parents to create a safe environment for our youth.
8. Will you Do a Presentation for our Group/Organization?
Yes! PACT is willing do to presentations at churches, community centers, libraries, etc. However, we prefer doing
presentations in someone's home because of the comforting and relaxed atmosphere it creates. We focus mainly on youth
drug and alcohol prevention, but we do have partnerships and resources with other organizations for bullying, suicide
prevention, etc. that we could provide to you.
9. How Can I Donate?
There are a number of ways you can donate to PACT:

-Make a specific donation to one of PACT's initiatives.
